Strengths:	Leather.
Weaknesses:	The zippers are not smooth. The movable partition for the laptop slot is awfully made.

I bought Targus as I had a 15" case that was excellent. The 17" case is not as well made. The zippers are not smooth. The movable strip for the main laptop slot came apart in a few days. I was horrified to see that it was merely a thin strip of Styrofoam that had been poorly covered with nylon. When I called Targus, they were ready to replace the bag, but needed me to pay shipping. I thought it would have been easier for them to just send me a strip that was better made. I guess I will not be thinking of Targus in the future.

I recommend this to anyone that has a 17" laptop. Feels great and looks good. I told a friend about it and now he has one. If I ever need another; I'll keep eye out for this one.

If organization is your goal, then this case may be for you. But if you want good functionality and durability, then I'd skip this one. This case is very poorly designed, and has a few significant flaws.Only the two outer flat sides are leather. All four gussets (top, bottom and both ends) and the handle wraps are vinyl. A new case I looked at in a major office supply store already had cracked vinyl on the bottom gusset at a flex point. There is no real cushion protection at the bottom of this bag.The opening is a pouch style, instead of a clamshell. Only the top opens, and the zipper does not extend down the sides. This leaves the steel zipper teeth exposed to scratching the top and bottom surfaces of a notebook PC.The case is designed for a 17" notebook but has a repositionable end panel to keep a smaller notebook from sloshing around...kind of. The panel attaches to the interior with Velcro, but only at the top of the repositionable panel. The bottom is free-floating, so it could allow accessories or a power adapter to cross into the notebook storage compartment unless the PC remains in the bag.The bag is fairly heavy, due to its size and construction materials. This looks like it's straight out of 1995 when everyone was making heavy leather laptop bags. Not that I care about fashion, but it's a really old design. It doesn't have many pouches or pockets for today's common portable electronic devices.There is no use of ballistic nylon anywhere for strength or weight savings, and it has flimsy ribbed plastic corner bumpers. There is an external cell phone pouch sewn to one end of the bag, but it looks like an afterthought (clearly appears out of place). I don?t know how anyone could use it, as most cell phones sold today would fall right out of it.Targus is misguiding consumers into believing this is a leather bag while it's exterior surface contains a significant amount of vinyl. There are better values available.

Strengths:	Good protection for your notebook against rain and possible hits on the go!Large storage pocket for your notebook accessories.
Weaknesses:	Pockets for Media made of nylon. Floppy drive or any accessory can perforate the pocket.

Targus notebook case is a good investment for those people who like to protect their computer. The Leather Exterior layer will protect your investment against sharp perforations and hits. I also like Targus lifetime warranty commitment.

I like the old design better. On my old one, the compartment that the laptop goes in opened up completely. My old one also had an expandable file storage compartment. But, I guess that would be adding more weight.
